Maximum MB in use?
So I am working on a pretty big map presently.
When I go in for some zoom in work the redraw is killing me.
I know I can change the display speed and use lower res. Just curious why my machine is struggling.
32 gigs of ram 12 gig video cards 3.8 ghz processor. My windows 10 desktop.
When I lag out on a redraw I am showing only 2400mb in use(taskmanager)? With effects on and off.
Is there an upper threshhold for MB in use?
The display speed setting is set to the default -1
Thanks for any insight.

I'm no tech wizard myself, but what kind of big are you talking about? A city with a thousand House entities, or an FT export with tens of thousands of nodes in the coastline alone?
Probably about 2000+ buildings so far
Cities are well known for it.
While I can't explain all the technicalities involved there, I can suggest a few tips on how to cope with it.
In addition to reducing the resolution, you could also try 1 or more of the 3 options available in the Shading panel of the Display Settings dialog.
If you work on one sector at a time you can put all the other sectors on different layers and then hide them, though they might be on the same sheet.
Yea I was about to start dividing stuff into sectors. It's just if I knew I'd have this issue I would have started that way.
I did try the disable shading, but had no idea what the other two did/do.
If no one comes up with a good idea, maybe I will just switch to a lower res, until it's time to finish up.
Thanks Sue.
If I remember correctly, CC3 is a 32 bit program and thus has a RAM limit that it can address. 4GB?
Yea I just ran across that the other day. Weird that when I am running task manager it's shows roughly 2gb, when in a big redraw.
I guess maybe that's why Campaign Cartographer 4 could be a blessing.
Yea Verly!!!!!
So yea, I have this issues with my Undermountain map. It's a bit larger, 20795 entities, 2475k of memory.
First, as you probably know, turn off effects except when you have to have them.
Then its about layers, turn off ones you don't need, for instance a lot of floor filles have two layers they are on, Background (Floor 1) and Background (Floor 2). Usually you can turn off Floor 2 while working. It has a lot of hatching and such that you don't need while working. Depending you may find other too (like a background fill etc).
And as Sue mentioned, create layers for sectors, my map has them by quadrant. Not perfect but it helps.
Finally, macros. Use macros to set the display of layers and sheets to help you manage this. It will help you quickly change back and forth and makes the pain less. And, then for exporting have a macro for setting sheets, turning on effect and exporting as well. See this thread for an example. Exporting Images at Set Resolution — ProFantasy Community Forum
I can't recall if Undermountain had an issue. When I did my Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas repairs thread there were a few maps that had problems.I know a map or two I deleted some sheets and then the map worked good. That was a few years ago so I can't recall.
