Live Mapping: Villages of Schley (revived)

This week, Ralf has rebooked the session that was cancelled in mid-May, and will be using the Cities of Schley style from Symbol Set 5 to create a detailed village map, showing off the style's options for a rural setting.
Come join us live for the chat and a chance to ask questions here on the day*

Or watch it later here on the forum if you prefer.

Thanks for the session Ralf. Thanks to Sue and Remy for answering questions.
One of our viewers asked if it was possible to align the field fills with the fields. Yes it is. Some styles have field drawing tools that do this automatically - styles like the Ferraris Style and Darklands City.
The three stages look like this, where field number 2 shows the roof shading automatically applied by Shaded Polygon (Angle by Edge).
If you want to edit your field use Explode just once to return it to it's former state.
This is very helpful, Sue. I only use this rarely, and always end up scrabbling around trying to find what the thing is I need to get rid of the roof-shading effect! Now I just have to remember where this was posted next time I need it!
Note that there is no reason to go around remembering the EDITSHADING command from step 3, simply using Numeric Edit
on the shaded entity will do the same job.
I didn't know about that one. Thanks Remy :)
I had to duck out of the Live because I got a call that my Dad had just died. I wasn’t going to post anything but I’m a bit tipsy at the moment and the ProFantasy community has been a big part of my life during my father’s illness. The first map I posted, the Castle in a Cloud, I did during my second of many repeated visits during his protracted health struggles. He finally asked that they not resuscitate him the next time they needed to, and they honored his wishes. I wasn’t going to post anything but maybe it’s the vodka talking, but it felt awkward to not say anything. ❤️ Big hugs, my friends.
My sincere condolences on your loss Kevin. Take care of yourself and the rest of your family.
My heart-felt condolences and sympathies for your loss. All the best to you and your family!
I really feel for you.
My Dad also had a DNR, do not resuscitate. Bless the fire and ambulance that worked hard to give him CPR before the hospital, but we knew he was gone. My Dad also had a lot of health struggles later in life, I too had a lot of Vodka the night he passed on.
I hope you have a lot of good memories of your Father to make you smile as you go through the years. (Me not so much!)
If you find yourself struggling, make sure to reach out to people. Sometimes you just need someone on the other end of the phone.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Kevin.
My condolences to you and your family.
Here's a hug back from me ❤️
So sorry, friend. We're thinking about you.
Very sorry to learn of your loss @Royal Scribe . Sincerest condolences to you and yours.
