  • I like a lot of them, but my favorite is the June '07 issue, Parchment and Paper.

    Ok. Here are some nominations from me. There is a lot of good stuff in there, so picking a reasonable number of favorites isn't easy.

    Mercator Historical (Jan 2007)
    John Speed (Feb 2007)
    Sara Wroot (Apr 2007)
    Starship Deckplans (Aug 2007)
    Lighted Dungeons (Jul 2008)
    Star Systems (Oct 2008)
    Sailing Ship (March 2009)
  • I'm still pretty new to CC3 but I scooped up all of the annuals right away and the extra art they include was a key factor in purchasing the software in the first place.

    So far, I really love:

    Mercator Historical (Jan 2007)
    John Speed City (Feb 2007)
    Overland Black & White (August 2008)
    Fantasy Illustrations / Jerôme Huguenin (Jan 2010)

    Also, the upcoming Black & White Cities (April 2010) looks really good from the screenshots.
  • If I could only vote for one, it would be the Fenlon -- I'd wanted to do that style for a long time.

    But my short list is:
    * Mercator
    * John Speed
    * Sarah Wroot
    * Create Style Pack
    * Catalogs
    * Fantasy Worlds
  • Mercator Historical (2007)
    John Speed (2007)
    Overland Black & White (2008)
    Strip Maps (2009)
    Parchement (2008?)
  • bearclawbearclaw Traveler
    John Speed
    Pete Fenlon
    Parchment & Paper
    Sarah Wroot
    Lighted Dungeons

    Though I haven't had a chance to use it yet, the Deck Plans looks really interesting. Just need to find a reason to do a ship plan to try it out.

    volume 1:

    starship deckplans
    parchment templates
    original Mercator
    John Speed
    old school dungeon maps ( blue and white)

    volume 2:

    overland B&W
    system map

    volume 3:

    style pack: fantasy realms
    fantasy worlds
    battle tiles

    it is very likely I left something out of the above.

    This is really hard - I liked so many of them. :)

    Peter Fenlon (2008) was probably my favorite of all the style packs. Modern City Maps (2007) - especially the 18th/19th Century style - is up there too.

    Create Your Own Style Pack w/ Old School Dungeons Example (2007) is my favorite of the "How To" annual issues.

    I should give a shout out to Heraldy (2008), Star Systems (2008), Fantasy Cities (2009), Fantasy Realms (2009) and Side Views (2009) as well.
  • My first RPG was MERP, so I have to say my favorite mapping style was January 2008: Pete Fenlon Maps. If there was a way to buy just that one style, I would. I just can't justify the cost of a whole year's worth of mapping styles if I am only going to use the one style.
  • Issue 19 Lighted Dungeon added something very cool to the DD3 toolset and is still one of my favorites.
  • Overland Black & White (2008)

    This style helped push me into deciding to trying CC3

    I am game for all the "historic" bits... so Mercator, John Speed, Historic Cites, Strip Maps etc... Than there is the one with the lighted Dungeons... That got my gamers soooooo hooked. (I made a puzzle dungeon with the lightning of torches etc really nice)
    I also am sparing money for 2009 Annual just for the "Ornamentation" part... That alone is worth the money!!!!

    So If I had to pick 3 and a runners up it would be: John Speed, Strip Map, Ornamentation.
    Runners up ist Mercator.

    Cheers
    Olaf

    I like #13 Pete Fenlon
    next in line would be the Fogotten Realms annual.
  • pvernonpvernon Betatester 🖼️ 34 images Surveyor
    I must say I agree with jaerdaph I all points.
  • If I had to choose just one, it would without a doubt be the Peter Fenlon style. Those old MERP maps were what got me into cartography in the first place.

    If I can add more to that list I would include the John Speed style, lighted dungeons, and old school dungeons.

    Of course, I need to mention that Joachim de Ravenbel's side views (Dec 09) convinced me to buy the 2009 Annual.

    Also, I just viewed the sneek peak at April 2010. The B & W City Desiger style just convinced me to buy the 2010 Annual :)
