Background Bitmap fills

Hey guys. I'm trying to put in some sort of background fill for my map, but everything I try gets a very highly tiled look. Is there a way to reduce the number of tiles are showing in a specific area. I guess is there a way to enlarge the amount of space each tile takes up.

I'm pretty bad at this stuff, so if you can help me figure out what I'm asking for, I might do better researching on my own.

I have a 900 by 800 foot map (made in Castles). When I change the background rectangles property to be a fill style (Specifically Dirt and Grass Light), it looks like well, a bunch of squares that are green/brown-ish. But clearly a big tiled rectangle. If I zoom very far in, it looks better, but I want to be able to look at the whole map.

Any help would be very appreciated

You can change the scaling of the fill.

If you click the FS indicator on your status bar to get to the fill style dialog, go to the bitmap files tab, and pick the relevant fill in the dropdown, you can change the values under "scaled" to change the size. Larger size means less tiling, but remember that the resolution of these fills aren't infinite, so they will appear pixelated if you set this too large.

  • That was absolutely it. Thank you so much Monsen. I knew it was something simple, but could not for the life of me...
