Birdseye cut-out problems

Help --- I’ve finished with the coastal outlines and some inland water, but there’s a number of islands in the fjord but I can’t cut-through to show them!
I moved the map that I am using as a guide to the bottom of the list, no luck.
I put Color Key onto the BACKGROUND sheet just in case it was that but it didn’t help - or at least I didn’t think it had until I’d hidden everything but that sheet and found the shape of Landholmen actually cut through the background (as you’d expect) but this leaves me in a quandary.
One option I do not want is to redraw the entire thing again, somehow drawing around the islands as I go {is that actually possible???} but as yet I don't know if there is another one.

Remember that the land is the background, so you want to be cutting through the water to reveal it as the island. That's where the Color Key is to enable cutting.
If you use one of these two drawing tools you should be able to draw your island without any trouble, as long as you haven't significantly modified the way the sheets and effects are ordered and set up.
8.50: I am using the cut-through properly but every time I Refresh the pink shape disappears and I’m left island-less!
I think I’m going to insert another sheet, probably called LAND, and see what happens. it won’t hurt the terrain tools because you’ve tied them to their sheets and the addition will be above all of them. <- I do my best thinking in bed!Mid-day: The smooth poly works but the fractal poly cut-through doesn’t! I find smooth polys a lot more difficult to draw, so my inclination is to go for a fractal one where- and whenever I can. and smooth outlines on islands might look odd compared to the fractal coast, but I want to finish this map
Your first comment sounds like the pink shape is being drawn on the wrong sheet. If you're using a drawing tool to create it, that may be set to a different default sheet than the one your Color Key effect is on. If so, it's easily changed by simply carrying out a Change Properties command immediately after finishing drawing the shape - so before it vanishes (you can check to see which sheet it's drawing on while you're drawing it in the information boxes along the top of the CC3+ screen).
I'm guessing that the fractal poly's ending up on the wrong sheet too, as there's no reason it wouldn't work properly just because it's a fractal shape.
That is very strange. Both drawing tools work fine for me. However, this is a brand new map with no modifications.
Please can you share your FCW file with us - see if there's an issue with the sheets.
I made a new smooth cut-out tool and turned it into a fractal one and so far it is working, but if it stops working today I will definitely add it to this comment as I’m getting fed up with it! The only sheet that moves is the one that the inserted guide map is on.
