Combine Path causing crash

If I use Combine Path, having selected the two paths to combine, if sometimes I hit Enter or "d"or and always Return, CC3+ just crashes with no error. Do others have that? It is so annoying if one has not saved for a while.

    It's not a usual result.

Please upload the FCW file so we can see if it also crashes for us.

  • It has happened on more than one map. Here's one where it happens - I've marked two paths that are a problem. To be honest this has been an issue for years for me, and on more than one PC, but I just got sufficiently frustrated today to ask the Forum.

  • Did you want the two paths joined?

I joined the two paths that were marked "These"

I'm not good with those commands, but I didn't experience any problems or crashes.

This may or may not have anything to do with the problem, but as I worked along that red line I discovered a piece that was duplicated. The only difference was the entity tag number, so I used that to delete the first and shorter one.

I will stop here because I can see that Don has commented before I really got going.

EDIT: I wasn't having any trouble all the way along that red line myself, until I got to that duplicated section.

EDIT2: One thing that strikes me is that you mention using D or return to finish the command. You don't need to do that with Combine Paths. Just right click once when you finish adding all the pieces together. The only extra thing you need to do is if you hit a line that's the wrong way around and have to switch it's direction using F or S.

EDIT3: I am now very curious to see if you can join thse lines together, knowing what you do now about the way to complete the command, and with the awkward duplicate part removed. If you still can't join things let me know.

  • Thanks to both: I'll look into that tomorrow. However, I still reckon the program should not crash if one presses the Enter Key, or any other.

If it continues to crash despite the removal of duplicated lines and using right click instead of D or return, please contact Tech Support.

  • If I press Enter when the two lines have been selected I still get the crash. Will contact Tech Support.

You don't need to press enter. Just right click. That ends the command.

This is what the Tome says about using Combine Paths:

  • It depends on how many points are also in your two paths you want to Combine - if they are in the thes of thousands for each line, I have sometimes had that crash. Simplify is a great command to overcome that difficulty. The other is if there are duplicate lines, and that can also cause crashes, though that was a long time ago for me, well before the current version.
