I've never used this style before but now I'm intrigued. I'm in the midst of castle building at the moment but might try this out when I need a pause from the castle.
A friend of mine from Brazil asked me for a small map of a city in his campaign. Taking advantage of my Wielinkm moment, I told them to give me a map with the names in Portuguese, and here is a map with the literal translation - sorry for any mistakes.
This time I tried to explore a region that had been torn apart by, perhaps, a major eruption. The few symbols of ruins in the style led me to imagine a very arid area, with only burned trees. I would have liked a bridge (in the original style) in ruins, but that's what we have. I asked Mike Schley, from the monthly content of cities, to import the flames and smoke to help set the mood of destruction.
I tried to create a dark forest environment, or "that dark movie theater environment", this time without using clouds :) and at the same time keeping the design simple without many icon options. I used only the 3 Mesas symbols by Herwin Wielink, plus the pine tree icons, the cave and the crystal, varying their positions, colors and directions of the symbol (mirror).

It is completely a different style than I like doing. Looks pretty cool.
I'm purposely testing a bigger Zoom in.
In fact this style, as well as Jon Roberts could have an annual update with more and more icons.
Unfortunately, the artist who created the Herwin Wielink style doesn't seem to be on the scene these days - not for several years.
We could make a massive request for him to come back. He would make a lot of children happy. 😍
I'm not even sure he's 'around', if you understand. There's been nothing from him for years.

@simon727 Sorry, I didn't understand.
