can't resize map borders

for months now - or is it years? - although I can resize the actual drawing area, I can't get the map border to resize with it. I don't know how to make the border smaller and I'm scared to mess it up. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Are you talking about the actual map border, which is the green lines or rectangle you can find if you isolate the MAP BORDER layer, or do you mean some kind of decorative frame around the map?
its the coloured edge, in this instance the blackish line, Sue. I've tried resizing by using MOVQ, Exploding or Scaling it but nothing works. it stays the same size while the white thing around the whole thing has moved down with the drawing area.
As an aside, the font I've got on the map doesn't accept Glow effects - even daft ones like 40 inner. Do you know why? The font is called Rochester.
If you have a version where this frame is still in the correct alignment with the rest of the map, put it on the SCREEN layer, which should make it behave as expected when resizing.
If you no longer have such a version, please upload the FCW here and I will put it back in it's place for you.
I generally save as I go along so that is easy. I'd love to know how to resize disobedient Map Borders &/or Screens? I've learned so much this year, and this would be useful to know!
The map dimensions I want are 1270 x 1010.
Thanks Sue.
Thanks.
I've put the black rectangle on the SCREEN layer, so it should resize with the rest of the map.
The Resize map note might also have been giving you some problems, since the contents were "SCALE", instead of "STRETCH". When scale is used you can only scale the size up or down and are forced to keep the same proportions. I've edited it to STRETCH, so you can have it any size or proportion you want.
As a general rule, the only things that respond to the Resize operation are entities on the BACKGROUND, MAP BORDER and SCREEN layers. That's layers, not sheets. So if you end up with a problem where something that really should be stretched doesn't respond properly, make sure it's on either the BACKGROUND or SCREEN layers. Having extra stuff on the MAP BORDER layer is problematic.
I hope that helps.
thanks Sue. I've bookmarked this so when I hit this problem again I can just look through my bookmarks.😁
Despite following the instructions to the letter, I'm still having problems with this.
It appears that I forgot to check your Screen entities were on the SCREEN layer. So they didn't resize properly. When I put that right the scaling didn't work as expected anyway, so I created a fresh Isometric Town map and transferred your work to it. The Resize works fine now.
thank you so much Sue, I just couldn't work out why the resize didn't want to work! Which entities weren't on SCREEN - I actually had to add the layer when I was working through your directions determined to do it without help.
LATER: just of curiosity, do you know why a city template is classified as a Dungeon in terms of the buttons along the top and the drop-down menu is 'Dungeon' as well, because all the symbols are in one long list.
The white collar around the map on the SCREEN sheet was on the MAP (BACKGROUND) layer, instead of the SCREEN layer.
But to be honest something wasn't right in the way the map was behaving even after I put that right. Resize was still only scaling proportionally rather than stretching to any size differentially. That's why I moved the contents of your map to a fresh new blank map that I created straight from the template, the same size as your original map. Sometimes that's the easiest and most effective thing to do.
In answer to your later question - that may be my fault. I was working on a dungeon style (DD4) when I also opened your map at the same time.
Try hitting the CD3 button. That should give you the correct menu.
