OK dumb question time….
I bought CC years ago and then CCpro. I have most of the add-ons such as DD, CD and Cosmo and a few of the symbol sets. I have since upgraded to CC3, DD3, CD3 and still CosmoPro plus all the usability patches.
I bought the programs so I could create maps for the RPG games I run/play. There was a time where I had been cranking out maps on a fairly consistent bases despite the limited support for the non-hack and slash ancient sword swinging era’s, also known as the modern age. That last is not a criticism since the smart developer concentrates on what sells, but more of a point to be made. With little available in the symbol department I had to create many of my own. About 5 (6?) years ago I suffered a major crash of my computer and lost everything. Yes, I know “back up and back up often”…. But lose it all I did. I just didn’t have the heart at the time to try and rebuild from scratch so I didn’t. I have however been updating the software and applying the patches as they come out, just waiting for that bolt of inspiration to hit….
Well it has hit and now I have a question. Where did the blank template go? I always found it much easier to define my own scales than try to decipher what someone else had embedded in their templates. But since loading the v3 programs and the updates I can no longer find the template in question. I know that I am going to have to learn everything basically from scratch, but that blank was my primary starting point for everything from maps, to deck plans to symbol creation.
Linus had his blanket.
I have my ‘blank’ template
Help…

Fortunately, it is easy to create.
1) Start a map on an existing template.
2) Show and thaw all layers, and show all sheets
3) Delete all entities on the map
4) Save As. Select template as the type. Put it somewhere inside the #CC3\Templates directory
5) When you create new maps, the blank template should now be available when you choose to use an existing template instead of the new map wizard.
Do remember that the "new map wizard" allows you to create a map of any size however, so you are no longer limited to a few predetermined sizes available as you were in CC2
@Mosen - Thanks for the tips, and I'll have to get used to the map wizard I guess. I'm just naturally stubborn and want my map borders to be 'just so'..... One day I'll learn.....or maybe not....
@Ralf - Awesome! Just what I was looking for.
Now to begin the process of relearning it all....
Tey say it is always easier the second time, right?
