Since my new computer is in for repairs, I have decided to do work on this region. So far, I have detailed the country of Folortalin, and Elf-Slav racial mixture.

Further work done on this map - added some extra islands - the ones I have been doing for the Community Atlas. renaming not yet done, but the symbols all reorganized. I had to scale them up since the atlas maps were in miles, and the Hardin map is in Km, and I wanted to keep the islands the same size. It also means I will keep the write-up of the islands.
A larger version will be in the Gallery.
Is this your own world? I searched the Forum for Myryriandios and saw info on it from a delelted user.
That looke like a ton of work. Did you place all the trees by hand or use a fill setting?
Trees - used both. There are areas that need cleaning up.
That deleted user was me. I was off the forum for a while over a disagreement. Al water under the bridge.
And yes, it is very much my own world.
Political boundaries of southern Hardin
Yes, I had inadvertently turned the sheet effects off for the text.
Here is the final map of this region - 2400 km w x 2500 km l. It will be the basis of my campaign Gazetteer which I hope to publish in about 12 months.
I am now working on mapping each subregion, starting with Fol0rtalin. I have included many of the maps I have done for the Atlas, a little revised.
Here is the region of the northern Isles, with each island detailed. The uppermost left island is the closest to there being a 'nation', mainly due to the efforts of Melodiva Tirina, the charismatic female leader of this hardy folk. I am going to do a sketch using Character Artist of both the Sea king and Melodiva Tirina (as she is an important person in this fantasy world). And also try to use it to do the sea creatures, the Muru.
Here is each island close up.
Two rather 'evil' islands, and a major reason why the region hasn't consolidated into a nation state.
Separate settlements, with occasional meetings together, mainly to deal with any crisis. But there are competing agents, one faction seeking to prevent any unity, another seeking to form a unified nation, and a third seeking to unite with the northern island, Endendor, in the newly created Bilyy (White) Jarldom
Dominated by a reclusive mainly underground settlement of Davarin ('dwarves') with one human settlement.
Another group made up of self-sufficient settlements, but with closer development towards forming a cohesive 'nation', with regular meetings of leaders of each settlement and farmstead in something like the ancient Icelandic Althing. This has largely been motivated by the increasing threat posed by an ancient red dragon, Zelait.
Finally, the one island that has seemingly got its act together, and formed the nascent Jarldom of Bilyy (White), under the charismatic leadership of Melodiva Tirina, who also has her eyes on uniting the whole island archipelago. Unfortunately, not only does she have to deal with the fierce independence of each individual settlement, but also agents of evil chaos from the Dumyano Recluse Tower; and the general trouble-making of the sea-people.
Jarl Melodiva Tirina
I am making great strides on my project. I have now completed making separate maps for each region on the Hardin map. This is one of the more complex - the Folortalin City States, which I have now completed to my satisfaction. (though I might add a character or two, perhaps - two opposing political figures?)
Sorry I can't give more detail on the map on the forum, it is already 9,6MB here, but I have saved it as a 10000 x 10000 map (105 Mb Jpg). I have also attached the FCW for any who are interested.
This is the next section I will tackle - the 'Viking' kingdom of Skalamark. It also includes the island of Llum (but with a new name) that I did for the Atlas, and for which I wrote extensive notes. Obviously, this is only a beginning.
BTW, 16,001 tree symbols, in the Folortalin map, nearly all added by hand in the end. Not anywhere near Ricko's record, though! 😄
Here is a small addition to the map, detailed - the Lineala Islands - only 1 is inhabited by humans. One contains a interdimensional Rift, another has an elven settlement.
And here is the central part of the map with all the detailed maps conjoined. Two areas left to do.
The Margarita Archipelago. Volcanic, and only a few small independent settlements.

And the larger map, to date. I will put the larger version in the gallery when it is complete.
Here is the final part of the map - the Kingdom of Nilterurn - a Slavic ship kingdom, and instigator of many raids on other lands for loot and slaves.

And here is the whole map now completed. Phew!
