has anyone tried creating maps using AI? I've just had a quick dabble, asking for a map of Umbar.

Sorry, too automatic for me.
What AI did you use? Out of curiosity, I used the one in Windows to create Greyhawk. It was pretty much a failure. Three had modern buildings. The fourth was ok, but it straddled the line between art and map. It didn't convey much other than it was a city with a giant castle in the center. Much of it was the area outside of the city.
i used copilot from windows. it appeared after a update to windows and i was curious what it could do.
it certainly creates some interesting images, of various degrees of usefulness.
I've just asked for a heraldic image of a wolf eating, in one image it was snacking on a cookie
They're beautiful images, but not ones you can pre-plan, adjust, or customize.
yes no planning involved, but you can get some form of customisation, by having a more detailed request. so far i'm thinking it will be mostly useful for inspiration and creating decorations and illustrations for map borders etc.
