I created a new sheet just below the background. I set the color to a mid blue ~71. I had the fill style set to solid. I then used the box and filled the entire new sheet I added with the color. I then added blend mode as an effect. I reduced it to 60% and then picked multiply.
Based on the Atlas of Pern, there isn't much else for me to add other than some more labels for some terrain features. So I am pretty much done with this. I thought about adding a small strip of tundra/snow at the very bottom/top. However, that is not on the original maps and this style doesn't have a tool for it. There is a Terrain Tundra, but no tool. So, I would have to play around and make it.
But if anyone has any suggestions other than adding in some terrain labels, I may make some changes or add to it.
My comment weirdly got cut off. Anyway, if I had zoomed in on the names I would have gotten it for sure. Now I wanna reread some of the books. Well done.
Oh, you've got some options depending on what your vision for the finished product is. The Atlas of Pern was published after the seventh novel, and there are like twenty or something more - some before, some after those seven. If you want to put some of the minor holds, crafthalls, and such. You've got Cove and Southern, so Landing is probably also appropriate. Things like that.
But as I said, it looks good as it is, and would only need the declaration from the Author to make it a finished product.
Good maps of the otherworlds we have spent so much time in are few and far between - so we're always wanting more.
So I tweaked this a bit. I modified the terrain to make it look better and added some ocean countours. Redid some of the mountains. Added a couple of labels. I'm open to adding other settlements, but I haven't found a good reference for where to put them.
I did a version with lines and without. Not sure which I prefer, but since everyone else has lines, I thought I would add.
Interested to see how far back you'd faded the windrose lines in the latest map iteration.
Just a thought, but for Pern, maybe the windrose centres should be on a few of the more significant weyrs, not on the sea (probably without the fancy symbol though, if so)?

You made your oceans green! Very cool. What was your technique for doing that?

I hadn’t zoomed in on the names. I didn’t recognize it as Pern — it’s been so long since I’ve seen the maps, and o

A couple of labels were on the wrong sheet. So here would be the final version.
Really nice map! I love the style and your design.....
but one thing is bugging me:
the A in Southern Sea.
Could you line it up with the S E? You could explode/ungroup the text and move it independently. Or, if you like it as is, just ignore my OCDness
😁
Geoff
same impresion here with the A
Beautiful map <3
Now I want to revisit Pern! Haven't read those books since middle/high school...

So I added the lines to some of the holds. In doing that, I found a couple more holds to add. I adjusted the sea text a bit.
Brilliant map, Jul
Absolutely love, love. Like others, now I want to read that series again.
