On Tues Sept 26, 2023 @ 10:16 PM Gerald "Jerry" Thiel passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Such sad sad news. I spent wonderful times with him online and collaborating with him in his mapping. He contributed many maps to the Atlas, particularly the Minotaur Imperium on Artemisia. 61 Maps in all!

I think all those of us who have been here for more than a couple of years will remember Jerry's beautiful maps, and how helpful and kind he was to everyone. I never met him face to face, but his online presence was a shining example of how to be a decent and loveable human being.
Jerry was a dedicated mapper, and loved making maps for the atlas. He was a valuable community member that will be missed.

Very sad to hear of his passing. His memory will live on in his maps for me.
I am so sad to hear this news. I enjoyed Jerry and our online conversations in the past. I am grateful I had a chance to be a part of his mapping family.
