Reinstallation seemingly destroyed my map
So I had to reset my computer. now I'm in the process of reinstalling everything. Got to CC3+, installed it, installed the update, installed the content packs. Tried opening one of my maps. Half of everything is gone. The rivers, the towns and cities, the lakes, the grid, and the map border is different now. What happened? Can I get it back to what it was?

This may not be the problem, but check that you have the latest installers for all your software. Things that have been lying around in your download folders for a couple of years may not be all that useful.
All installers should be run as administrator by right clicking the installer.
Make sure you allow CC3+ to open at the end of any installation process where the default setting is for it to open, and that you reinstall the latest update at the very end - even if you've already reinstalled it once early on.
I redownloaded all the files to avoid this problem (also I only started using the program back in August, so I can't be that out of date regardless), but I guess I'll try to uninstall everything and then reinstall it (I don't think I ran the base installation as administrator).
But to get this straight, I should install the latest update again after installing the content packs?
Yes. It is always best to reinstall the latest update right at the end of the process.

Hmm, when I go to install the update it says "your CC3+ folder seems to contain a version more recent than this update" and if I run CC3, it's already version 3.98. So, does that mean I should skip upgrading from 3.98 to 3.98? Is there anything else in that update?
The installer contains updates not just to the main program, but also to the add-ons. so even if you have the latest program version, there will still be things in the updater that updates the add-ons. This is why it should be run at the end after installing everything.
What do you mean when you say things are gone though? Is it replaced by red X'es, or just completely gone? If it is the former, it means that you are missing art resources you used to have installed, which probably means you forgot to install something on your new install.
