For the August competition, I'll try to map the "Blue Rose Tavern" below:

I think I will not follow the standard (and probably wise) procedure to have the different floorplans as single maps. My Idea is to make a map (hopefully still good for the Atlas, what do you think @Monsen) where all the floors will be visible at the same time and keep the surroundings of the original map as a background... Something like this:
That may be too much... Better one floor less:
I think it will be confusing having the original map as the background, but that is only my opinion.
Thanks @Loopysue !
I'll try. It will be masked somehow (transparency, blur, both).
I'll try to keep the streets and plaza as clear as possible and blur or "hide" the other buildings. But let see...
You could just put the different floors in little sub-framed sections with the same background of cobbles behind each one, but made paler (or darker) as the floors go up?
Yes, that seems a good way, if i get it
Ground floor is done (almost... I now noticed that windows are missing!). It is a very small tavern where only few customers can go at a time but it is known for its good quality... It is probably a fancy place for rich people who want to drink expensive cocktails...
I am creating the floors separately and I will later merge them in a single CC3+ map.
What is the scale - and imperial or metric?
Hi @Quenten! The scale is metric and each square is 50 cm
working on the first floor... The one with few rooms for guests:
Not finished yet....
Oh my... trying to put together in the same map 4 different floors, each with a slightly different set of sheets (my fault!), is teaching me a lot about organization. And it is making me change idea😅. Especially, having different lights effect seems really not wise.
But I'll try.
However... I messed up with the floors. I tried to add a roof and ceiling floor using the command (FLOORPLANADD...) but i deleted the one on the original map and one of the new floors have a different size. Could someone suggest guide me? Is there a simpler way to add floors?
It's looking really great :)
You could still use FLOORPLANADD. If the map itself is a different size you can use Resize Drawing Area in the Draw menu to correct that so that it matches the other levels. If the layout is the wrong size you could delete it and copy and paste from another floor using the map origin as the copy and paste origin. Then, even if you only want the walls from the other level's map, or the walls and the stairs and dividing walls, you have a head start on things.
Thanks @Loopysue !
I studied a bit more the wonderful tome and found also the useful FLOORPLANCOPY command 😊
I am doing as you suggested.
Attic, done:
Of course, it's easy to forget that those dormers mean attic rooms. I must remember that myself when I do mine.
Nice work :)
Ah, on my dad's house there are two dormers. One leads to a half-attic. The other is 'just there'. I guess to visually balance the other one.
In a town such as the one being mapped here, one could be a secret room, only available to the staff. Or if it has 7 gables, they could have faces on them. Just not Clark Gable.
Quick sight at the basement/storage room:
Here the holder of the tavern keeps all the goods :)
But maybe is also where hidden things happen.
Oh my...
I had so little time to work on the map in the last couple of weeks...
I started to put together the maps. Each floor, as well as the map itself, will be labelled properly (and all the sheet effects tuned). Each floor will have the link to the single floor map, while each floor map will have the link to the other floors, the map area, and the "floors map" (the figure below).
Below a detail of the tavern sign and symbol, the blue rose:
That Blue Rose symbol is just stunning!
Does the name derive from the Blue Rose RPG?
Did you do the Rose in CC3+, or use a symbol or what - you need to almost give a tutorial on it. Stunning is a correct description.
@Wyvern Hi! Actually I don't know 😅. The name is present in the original map on the Atlas. We should as @Quenten :)
I did the rose within the map (in the ground floor) within CC3+.
The tavern sign, on the other hand, was done "cheating" with midjourney (toward which I got addiction). It is an AI based image maker...
The sign is just flavor and will not be part of the competition... But I liked it.
Below a stained glass window of the tavern (the sole one, it is expensive for the innkeaper!!), obtained with the same method:

I should have spotted that!
Interesting to know you've been working with the Midjourney AI as well. I learnt about this recently through the Handiwork Games KickStarter for their new RPG setting "Maskwitches of Forgotten Doggerland", which finished very successfully last week, as all the artwork for that has been done using Midjourney, tweaked subsequently to tidy a few things up, I gather, as the final renders aren't of pro-printable quality (I'm a bit vague on that element, however, so may be wrong!). It seems a very capable system though, as your Blue Rose emblems clearly show!
