I've got to the stage where I cannot save anything in vista, rendering in CC3 and Ft are useless to me, so was wondering if anyone has tried windows 7 yet?
I'm using it on RC 7100 64bit with relatively few problems. Sometimes it crashes when saving, but I've found that adjusting the export size can fix that in some instances. Will see how it works with Home Premium when I get that, though.
Found some info that might help you on a diff thread. I installed 7 (x64) a few days back and was having problems getting the program to install properly and update. Seems it has to do with the directories you put it in. I couldn't get it to work when it installed it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder. Once I got it to install and work, it wouldn't update. Finally, uninstalled everything and put it in C:\Profantasy\CC3 just editing out whatever it was in front of that. I was trying to put it in a folder that was called Roleplaying\CC3, i guess the update looks for Profantasy? Eh..at any rate, give that a shot. Seems to update and run the program fine. I make no promises that it'll continue to operate correctly after that I'm still installing the rest of the software bundle right now!
This link has instructions to install CC3 and it's addons in Windows Vista. Since Vista is quite similar to 7, anyone having install problems might try the steps listed here first. It definitely worked for me.
Well I have CC3/DD3 installed (using the Vista patch) running under Windows 7. So far I noticed some response time problems with the redraws, anyone else have any issues?

Just installed CC3 using W7 (32) Home Premium, after having to do the full reintsall as I was using XP. CC3 installed fine and dandy, however, within seconds of opening, I get "The program had to close" message...
Installed CC3 on Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit today.
Same issues as in Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit: Before starting an operation such as "save as PNG" or import symbols, I need to select / place a symbol. Otherwise, the programme crashes. After placing a symbol, all functions (including rendering and importing symbols) work fine. So, it's only a minor problem.
Language of my Windows license(s): German.
Location of CC3 and add-ons: E:\CC3 (2 HDD's, RAID 0)
(I tried C: \CC3 as well and encountered exactly the same issue).
Installed add-ons: all, except Character Artist, Dioramas and ToUM.
FYI: I temporarily turned off Windows' UAC to install CC3 as well as the add-ons and followed the instructions in the FAQ (run as administrator, installation order, installing the patch (3.24) twice, etc.).
So far, I'm not having any problems with other software.
Simon, I've read that your team is working on the next patch. Hence, I thought that this information might be useful.
/edit i.e. PS: In case you ask, all drivers on my PC are up-to-date. I use Driver Cleaner.NET to erase old driver files before installing new drivers.
I have 8 GB of RAM and no hardware problems (such as defect memory).
Lost my hard drive [unrecoverable] last year including years of mapping, details of registration etc; so bought a new machine with Vista. Loaded up copies my hard copies of CC2 and CC3 along with dioramas pro. Can't get dioramas pro to load with Vista, CC2 loads but will not run, CC3 installs but has a host of problems including constant crashes. I have sent several E-mails to ProFantasy asking for help and have yet to receive a reply, this is a pity as customer support was outstanding in the early years. If I am having problems with Vista, I hate to think what will happen with Win7, although early feedback seems to suggest that Win7 has corrected many of the general compatability problems engendered by Vista. If anyone can suggest help, please let me know. Bob Bowman
@bobo485: CC2 is not Vista compatible, and isn't really supported by PF anymore, so that one won't be updated for Vista. CC3 works perfectly on Vista for most people, but some has problem. I know PF has been working hard lately trying to resolve the Vista crashes for those that experience them. I am guessing a fix will be out in the not-to far future, which will hopefully help you too. As for PF tech support, they usually answer very quickly. If you don't get an answer, this is usually due to their reply being eaten up by a spam filter (either by your ISP, or your local spam filter/email software if any). I would suggest you check all your spam filters, and if you come up blank, try using another email account to communicate with them on (Like gmail). There is also an alternate email address listed on this page. You can try emailing PF on that address instead of the regular tech support address.
Do you have all of the patches installed ? You can get to them via your registration page, which also has your registration details such as serial numbers.
CC3 has some compatibility updates available via your registration page. Any CC2 add-ons you had will also have the CC3 compatibility updates so you can install those with CC3.
My apologies if you forgot your registration page login, but the above is a list of things you can look forward to when you get that information.
The forthcoming new version fixes known rare bugs on some Vista systems (including yours, Mogul). Contact ralf@profantasy.com if you want to try it now.
Bobo485, if we had received an email we certainly would have replied. Use the gmail address as Monsen suggests.
That's fantastic new, Simon. I read about the upcoming patch. CC3 already is an excellent piece of software. With the patch, features such as antialiasing and Cosmographer 3, CC3 will rock!
Following the linked advice, I've got this mostly working. Haven't exercised it too much yet, though.
One thing that crashes often is if I pull up the Fill Style menu, select Bitmap, and enter a path beginning with #.
I ended up fixing all my bitmap fill by creating the directory C:\Program Files\ProFantasy\CC3 and copying into it my old bitmap directory. Then I renamed C:\CC3\Bitmaps to Bitmaps.orig and created a shortcut to C:\Program Files\ProFantasy\CC3\Bitmaps and called it C:\CC3\Bitmaps. Now all my old maps find their bitmaps correctly -- but it will be a little annoying to edit new bitmaps.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, I have no serious issues but definitly two headaches. A folder in the CC3 directory stucture had been 'read only' security rights to it, but I forget which one(s) it was. And when exporting as a PNG at a high resolution (crashes out sometimes... ) or higher resolution then what th ratio of the drawing is it will crash everytime. At max'd out PNG resolution, it chokes, possibly because it runs of out memory trying to compensate for (render) the HIGH BITMAP settings when I didn't include tiles/bitmaps at that 'high bitmap value'.... I will do a test or two and report back. but so far nothing serioous that can't be endured or weathered.
I've had real problems loading with Windows 7. Luckily Ralf is helping me out here. I tried to re-install then started getting error messages. I'll try the advice given above re Program Files (86x) snd try another directory. DD3 won't give me the nice bitmaps either. Hope there is a patch coming soon as there seems to be evidence of some bugs from the posts previous. Thanks to the PF team for being very accessible and patient!

If you can reliably reproduce this on a specific map, with the latest version. please send it over - we thought we'd killed this one a long time ago.
I'm running Win7 Ult and CC3/DD3 w/ patch 8. When using Lighted Bevel, Texturize, or Texturize Overblend, if I add those effects it works fine; if I try to edit those effects then I crash. I have to delete the effect and re-add it. I also find that when effects are turned on, many times if I have lighting activated then CC3/DD3 just stalls out over and over instead of updating the map. I have to click the sheets window in between it telling me it's not responding, and turn off effects, save the map, close the program, reopen, and then turn effects back on. It will refresh fine for awhile after that.
The only problem i have with the 64 bit win 7 is the installation of DD3. Seems i'm missing some kind of .NET Framework 2 but when i check, it's there. Tried to install the 32 bit version of it but windows wont let me.
Is there a way to install DD3 with Windows 64 bit.

Re-download DD3 from your order page. We've removed the .Net dependency from the installer.

Will see how it works with Home Premium when I get that, though.

The main issue has been reproducing bugs - we simply haven't been able to reproduce them.
Swoods: We haven't had any Win 7 issues - I suggest you contact tech support if you are getting a crash bug on start up. Try it in Safe Mode first.
Redraws should be very fast on your system, Avotas; please contact tech support.
We'll be doing some programming work next week, so now is the best possible time to email with bugs.

Will do and thanks
