Land Editing not Affecting Coastline in M.S. Ink

So I wanted to change the land on a continent I drew. I used the default land tool again and hit E. It allowed me to make the edit. However, it only changed the land (white). It left the coastline in place. I tried using the tool marked land, edit and it did the same thing. I tried just having the coastline showing, and again, it only affected the white land and did not adjust the coastline.

So am I doing something wrong, or if it something with this style?

I'm not having any trouble with the editing using the land tool on my test map.

Have you changed anything about the land or coastline since drawing it - any fills, sheet and/or layer names, or which sheet and/or layer either part of the land is on? Those kinds of changes can cause the tool to fail to recognise one or both polygons (though usually it simply won't work).

Also, remember that the old coastline will still appear to be there until you refresh. I tend to rock the mouse wheel one click back and forth to force a refresh, rather than go for the button or the keyboard.

It seems to be working this morning on my test map. I didn't change anything. I had started to add symbols, but none where near where I was trying to edit. I was also working on islands. I also added some additional sheets, but the land/coast were on the default sheets.

Now the problem I am having is spiky points when I edit. It seems to occur when I connect the node at the end. I can't seem to delete any node to get rid of the point.

Have you got a screen shot of one of these points?

Try the negative node edit at the point. If that doesn't work, at the base on each side of the point.

I've had to twiddle with the Node edits to learn them. I'm still not 100% on them.

There's a loop in the line at that point. If you look at it as if it was a road you were driving down starting from the left, when you get to that point you are heading to the northernmost point first, and then the southern point second. Jim is right - you just need to decide which of those points is the one you want and delete the other one using the delete node tool .

If you are having trouble hitting the point it's not at the very tip of the line because the line has a width. The nodes are in the centre of the line width, so it will be a short distance in from the tip of the point.
