WIP: The Strong Arms Inn, Menii

Hi Folks,

WIP of the inn the PCs are staying at while in Menni,. If I don't get it done by Wednesday night, I'll just use the one out of the book (hand drawn B&W), Sea Kings of the Purple Towns.

Remaining furniture, internal walls and wall features to be added.

I recommend using a shorter less blurred shadow on the furniture.

Will do Sue. I've nearly finished it now but haven' got CC3 running (I'm on the Mac side) so I can't post an update. I deleted the background and put a poly of the default cave tool around the cellar, a poly of the dirt & grass bitmap around the ground floor. I've left the 1st floor with no background and shortened the wall shadows. I've also added interior walls doors etc. I'll post tomorrow when it's done.

Hi Folks,

This is as good as it's going to get for tomorrow nights game. I think it looks pretty good.

There are a couple of small mistakes, most notably, I needed to edit the bar symbol, but it's good enough for what I want.

The map and sign is obviously CC3+, DD3 + Bogie & CUSAC symbols, the parchment and other text was added in Affinity Photo and Publisher.

Whenever I see a wooden privy inside a medieval tavern I wonder what it smells like. (Not that such taverns probably smelled nice anyway.) There is a reason outhouses and chamber pots were used before indoor plumbing. Also how do you get at the barrel in the closed room over the cellar stairs? Finally there should be more candles for light sources at night.

I didn't design the map, just re-did it but my take is:

1. Privy's; see below...
2. The Barrel is one of the mistakes I made, it's meant to be a cistern, and I had a blank deciding how to portray it, one would assume to flush the leavings in the privy's into the sewers or whatever...they're not uncivilized after all and there is a bit of 'clockwork' in the setting...though a casual observer would not know that.
3. Candles aren't shown because the map portrays the inn during the day sans patrons😉 but really because I was running out of time. The lit ones on the table near the stairs are where men gamble when arm wrestling (trying to force the opponents hand onto the candle...).
4. Role playing maps don't have to be historically accurate though they must be functional and if they're aesthetically pleasing that's a very nice bonus.

Most D&D games have towns with sewer systems that thieves use. So I think they have some type of indoor plumbing.
