Take existing smooth polygon and getting it to trace a coastline

Kia ora all,

I am still learning CC3+, and so I found out about the trace tool quite late. I have therefore several smooth polygons that I laid down, that do not very accurately follow a coastline. Is there an easy way to edit the polygons to get them to follow the coastline, or do I have to redraw them from scratch?

Thanks

Unfortunately you can't press E for edit when using the smooth drawing tools like you can with a straight one.

This leaves you with a couple of choices. You can right click the Fractalise tool and pick Smooth to Straight, to convert the smooth polygon to a straight one, at which point I think it should match up again with the straight one it was traced around. An alternative is to try turning everything into smooth lines using the Straight to Smooth in the same menu.

  • Thanks for your thoughts. I think it is easier for me to just create new polygons and trace the old one and the coastline

It works better if the thing you are tracing and the drawing tool are both straight line.
