After placing items with non-ideal overlap, how to reconcile their overlap correctly?

I've placed several hills and foothills around, not strictly adhering to the "left to right and top to bottom" best practice.
Now I would like to make them tidy again.
I recall hearing that there was a way to re-order them so they do follow the expected proper draw order - could anybody help jog my memory as to how?

Go to Symbols in the top bar, choose Sort Symbols in map, and it is usually easiest to right click and choose all.
