Grid on a part of the map

I am looking to print a grid on a small portion of the map instead of the whole map. Any ideas about how to do this?

There are two main ways, either cover up the grid you don't need. For example, if you just need the grid over the dungeon rooms and not the background, you can make a copy of the background and the floors and multipoly them together to get a shape with a dungeon-shaped hole. Putting this shape on top will cover up the grid.

The other option is to manually trim the grid lines. The grid is just a seris of lines, so if you unfreeze the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer and unlock groups, you can manually cut the lines. Trim to Entity can be very helpful here.

Lastly, remember that when you add a grid to the map, you don't have to put it on the entire map, although you can only specify a rectangular shape when placing a custom sized grid, so you will probably need to do some cutting/hiding anyway.

    Hello bluefire :)

If you have the map set up in such a way that there is something you can hide the grid behind in the areas where you don't want to see it, you can achieve this by moving the GRID sheet up the list in the Sheets and Effects dialog until it is just below the part you want to grid.

Or, if that isn't possible, you can use a Colour Key sheet effect on the GRID sheet and visually crop away the bits you don't want by drawing plain coloured polygons over the rest of it. For example if the Colour Key effect has magenta as the key, if you draw magenta shapes over the bits you don't want to see on the GRID sheet that will hide them for you.
