Symbol snapping

Is it possible for symbols to snap to each other , I was thinking of using cc3+ to design my model railway layout and have the various pieces of track automatically link to each other

Yes, but there are some limitations.

A symbol can be set up with a control point that with the align option. It can then align to any line, including one that is part of another symbol. The downside with this is that it aligns along the line, which means it is generally only possible to account for one axis, either they line up perfectly with no distance between them, or they line up so the tracks line up perfectly, but there is no snapping for the distance, so there may be gaps.

Generally, what is usually done in CC3+ is using snap grids, but this isn't to friendly when you want to have turns at any angle.

A connecting symbol is a very nice way of handling things like this (like Sue's cliff annual this month). If you set that up with only the appropriate distances the various pieces allow for, that could work nicely. The issue here is of course that you don't pick your own pieces, so inserting things like bridges, intersections and such have it's own unique challenges under this model.
