Drawing Mountains

Hello,

I'm trying to expand my mapping skills with an inside/outside map. I am creating my own map based on another map to be used for VTT. The part that is new to me is creating these mountains ((see map at the top of image attached)). Can anyone point me in the direction of where to start making these style of mountain to my map ((see map at the bottom of image attached)).

I can't think of a style that inlcudes anything like that ready to use. You'll probably have to do some manual work here. I would probably start by making the mountain base in an appropriate brown color with a black outline, and then use the freehand tool to draw the feature lines, and polygons with a Solid XX fill to make the shadows and get the elevation effect you see here. Not a straightforward procedure, you will probably need to do a fair amount of tinkering to get it right.

Something approximating to the contour hatching used on the mountains can be drawn using the Symbols Along tool (See http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=6800 for more details).

In the past I used colors or bitmap fills to show elevations. The discussion is on these forums.

Natalya Faden's maps and textures This linked page has examples of her maps, and the zip files of bitmaps you will need.

Won't work for the Atlas though.

The Top Map is not done in CC3+. it is the Source map which they are trying to replicate in CC3+. Chances are the Original Cartographer created in a graphics program such as Photoshop or Illustrator.
