CC3 won't open

I've just installed the full suite after an absence. The CC3 was working fine for a day or four but tonight it would show the hourglass and shut down. It doesn't stay open long enough for me to tinker with settings. Any clues appreciated.

When you click on cc2, it opens the most recent map.

Go to the folder where you save your maps, and open a different map.

Does it do the same thing? Or does the other map open normally ?

edit: Sorry, I was on my cell phone last night and I thought I typed CC3+, but apparently not.

You can do that just by double clicking the other map.
