There are truly some magnificent game maps posted in this thread: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/272188/curmudgeon-shows-his-favorite-maps/page/1. Many look like they could have been made with CC3. A variety of different styles, most of which are not how I would think of making a map probably due to a lack of information and devotion to the modern era portrayal of topography.

This one in particular might appeal to Sue Daniels.

Oh yes! They do look very much like CC3 maps. I guess they will probably also have been drawn in vector apps. There's a certain nice clean sharpness about vectors that bitmaps will never really capture that well.

PS - I still don't get this altitude shading! LOL!

Altitude shading is basically everything the same color, or colour, is at the same altitude above the average sea level.

Most wargames use lighter for lower elevations and darker for higher. Many, but not other maps, use darker for lower and lighter for higher. (But perhaps its a US vs Europe sort of thing.) At any rate, it confuses Sue's perception (and mine. I have to intentionally change the way I think and it can be confusing.)

Mostly my older maps which used contour areas, went from what I remember of US Geodetic Survey topographic maps.
