Long time Mapper First time PosterI have been mapping and playing role play games since before the age of personal computers. The First Fantasy Campaign setting was what I cut my teeth on. I'm retired now and I dabble as the mood strikes me. I have attached a folder containing some original symbols I have created These are my gift to the community. I hope you enjoy them.

Too early for a CC4 wishlist thread, or is it timely?I'd like to see refinements in linking between maps. I would like to have the ability to build a stand-alone atlas, independent of the program, with fully functional hot links between sub-maps contained within the atlas. I'd like the ability to do so without visual text and boundary boxes around symbols. Click on a city symbol, boom you are looking at the city map. Click on a building, boom you are looking at the ground floor floor plan. Click on a staircase in the floor plan, boom you just displayed the upper or lower floor, which ever is applicable. Click on a lamp on a desk, boom you just changed the lighting/shading. To me, the interactivity would be a valuable addition. Mind you, it would place an additional "burden" on the cartographer, building sheet lighting effects, etc. But the utility gained would be fantastic. I'd love the ability to click on a desk symbol to "open" a drawer to reveal an object that could be displayed in the drawer, then click on that object to reveal a description, or a close up view, or both. Hover over a symbol and it "highlights" to show that you can interact with it. This my version 4 dream!

May Symbol Challenge@mike robel I was enlisted, regular Army from 1977-1980, HHC 3rd Bn 60th Infantry as an 05C Radio Teletype Operator out of Ft. Lewis Washington. I rode and had air conditioning/heat while others walked LOL. The rest of my time was as a 19D Scout/Recon instructor assigned to 1/322 CAV, Army Reserve out of Omaha from 1980 to 1985 when I got married and shortly thereafter had a two week traing stint at Fort Hood. After I returned from training I was informed by my wife that I wouldn't be reenlisting :-)

Bronze Age symbols?Nevermet, here is a start on some of the greco-roman symbols. Columns in the style of the Palace of Knossos. 8 symbols in various orientations that should work in Perspectives as free standing symbols. Enjoy.

Symbol challenge?Sorry if this is off topic but I am curious to know if there has ever been a symbol challenge in the community? I see that there are some VERY talented people that are a part of the community (sadly I'm not necessarily one of them) that produce some truly wonderful artwork. I would love to see a friendly "throw down" similar to the mapping challenge, that all of us could both participate in and benefit from. My thought was pick a theme, invite members to participate to produce a single mapping symbol. Perhaps in support of a current work in development. Honestly, the first thought I had was a "shipwreck" symbol to support the marine mapping work Loopysue is working on. I'm not suggesting any "prize" other than bragging rights and I don't want to muck up the works by having any of the development folks take time judge the outcome. As far as ground rules go, the only important one I would want to see is that the symbol is a rights unrestricted, free gift to the community. Any thoughts?

iPhone -Android appFor those that don't have Acrobat DC (I don't) I used Powerpoint to create the links on the attached example. First I exported the maps a PNG files and imported the images into powerpoint on three different slides. Then I exported the file out of Powerpoint as a PDF file. The links are automagically embedded in the PDF. Click on the staircases to move from level to level in the building.

Perspectives 3 - Log Fort@Loopysue I will certainly check that out. I'm sure the best look would be to alternate multiple variations of the material across the various iterations of the individual coal models. This is the hearth now with just the single material applied to all of the coal models. You can see the repetitive pattern as it stands now. I'm sure I can break up the pattern by moving and rotating the models and by creating one or two material variations. Still, it looks far better than the original. I'm red and green color blind so Adobe Color is a life saver for me ;-)
