Unfortunately the only effect I can get to sort of work is the predefined sepia effect, see below, but as its 'whole drawing' effect it also swamps my map title! I sort of like it as it takes away the darkness of the floor tiles, but would love it more if it didn't impact the text...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets muddled by opacity, @Fersus . Transparency isn't quite as bad because if you can't see anything you have gone too far in whichever direction: I tend to put either a large or small number in to start with and adjust as needed!

that won't be a problem if I use the command TED and adjust the font size there.

I've been back and forward with this map but because I've got a very short story in mind, that's what has kept me pushing forward. I think that I've got the symbols more or less visually in proportion despite maybe not actually in true scale!

is this better - personally I'm not that taken with it. Didn't like moving the Drop Shadow in, so fiddled with an Outer Glow. :) Should have left the brighter yellow for the castle names though.
