  • Floating City

I think this is probably going to turn out to be one of the best city maps on the forum when it's done.

  • Understanding impact of changes and related saves

Drawing tools are part of the style template, so saving a modified tool will cause that tool to stay saved that way. It is better to pick the tool you want to change and then press the New button. A new tool with the same qualities as the one you wanted to modify will be created, and you can name it as you see fit. When you modify this new tool and save it, the tool will be saved alongside the other tools in that style, but it won't alter any of the tools that came with the style.

Similarly, if you get into modifying the textures and symbols of a style it is better to copy them and rename them as your own variations before you work on them.

Edit: Ninjad by a much better answer from Remy :)

  • non-rectangular stairs in dungeons

Well, I interpreted it as a raised room with a raised platform on the other side, though I see that was wrong from the description now ;)

If I had read it properly in the first place I would have drawn the first 5 steps as patches of white covering the left end of the dungeon, rather than the right end of it. That would turn them the other way around.

And you're welcome. It pays to have a whole arsenal of possible solutions to a problem so that you can chose the best for the job, and the best one is not always the same one each time.

  • Marine Dungeon - further developments

I think that is probably because they tend to get buried by the sand and chopped off at surface level by the waves relatively quickly.

This generally only happens to the largest ships, so symbols of those would be better done at city scale than dungeon scale, or the symbols would be awkwardly huge.

  • The Land of Vareltia, My First Map!

    I agree with Remy - it's a good little map :)

If you export it as a jpeg of dimensions around 1-2000 on the longest side you should have more luck trying to upload it here.
