  • WIP A wayside camp on a high road

If you mean the same as the grass on the left then this shouldn't be too difficult to sort out because the texture you want is already available in the map.

Use the Change Properties tool |CC2MCHANGE| to change the fill.

If there is a fill that you want to use that isn't already in the map we can do that too, but I won't clutter up your thread unnecessarily.

  • Atlas Competition: Albërian continents

    Nicely done :)

I think I like the top map more.

  • Losing Maps

In addition to the advice I gave before about creating your own subfolder in Documents (7 September), I also find that it is really handy to save that folder in the Windows 'Quick Access' panel, so that it's only ever one click away.

  • WHY DOES IT DO THIS??!?!?!

Transparency Acne is weird stuff. It only appears at certain zoom levels. If you zoom in and out you will see the dirt vanish and reappear. It tends to happen at closer zoom levels, which is unfortunate because most reasonably high res exports require the rendering engine to look at the map in a very closely zoomed way.

  • How to edit an already-drawn coastline?

The coastline is identical to the land, so if you copy the landmasses to the COASTLINE sheet using Copy to Sheet in the right click menu on the Sheets and Effects button |CC2SHEETS|, and then hide all sheets except the COASTLINE sheet, you can use change properties |CC2MCHANGE|to give the polygon a line width, change the fill to solid, and pick the colour you want. Giving a polygon a line width makes it hollow by default.

If you deleted the COASTLINE sheet don't worry. You can recreate it by hitting the NEW button in the Sheets and Effects dialog, and moving it to a position just above the LAND sheet on that list (which will appear behind the LAND sheet in the map)

  • New Oxtail - WIP

There are several ways of doing the mountain. It depends how important it is to the map and how much time you want to take in creating it.

The quick and easy way is to use one or more sheets with a large and slightly smoothed "Bevel, Lighted" sheet effect, followed by an Edge Fade Inner sheet effect, and possibly a Blend Mode to blend the feet of the mountain into the flat ground. On that sheet you draw the extent of your mountain. I recommend using one of the transparent Solid fills, or a solid fill with transparency added in the Blend Mode.

The more detailed way that takes a lot longer is to actually draw the thing with lines and patches of shading on the darker side.

I will let you chose before I gallop off down a detailed description of either, or maybe someone else has an even better idea. There are always many ways of doing a thing in CC3.

  • Community Atlas competition: Kristol Caverns

    Hi guys :)

I think I have time to do just a small map of an ice cavern near Kristol Springs (hence the name of the cavern.

The basic idea is... well, it's an ice cavern... but I'm going to see if I can draw most of it with vector shapes and use no bitmap symbols at all.

There are no deities or beasties involved, and at first glance it seems like a pretty ordinary ice cavern. That's as far as I've got at the moment. I'm still at the thinking and dreaming stage.

  • Need Help with Image imports

You know what - I didn't see it as a single image at all, but two copies of the same thing. I think I must be tired.

  • Just an idea about annuals and polls

It's a nice idea, but in reality most artists have their own style and produce their best work almost exclusively in that style. In the beginning I believe Ralf Schemmann provided most of the artwork. He still does a lot of it, but it is nearly impossible to continuously and single-handedly pump out good quality art at the rate of 12 new styles a year without ever taking a break - especially if you are simultaneously responsible for a great many other things.

What normally seems to happen these days is that Profantasy find or are recommended to consider a particular artist's work and may invite that artist to do an issue in the current annual. As you may appreciate this doesn't always happen at the convenient rate of one per month, so I and a few others help Ralf to fill in the gaps.

This is just a suggestion, but perhaps it would be better to use this thread as a way to recommend the work of artists you like, so that Profantasy might use it as a sort of 'direction finder'.

    Fantastic job, Medio.

I'm really looking forward to finding a bit of time to use it :)
