  • Which Tools can Trace?

None of the basic tools from the right toolbars can trace. That is an advanced feature only available on the various draw tools (hit :CC2DRAWTOOLS: to list the tools for the current style).

If you need something not there, you can always make your own tool by duplicating an existing one and setting the shape (and other properties) to what you need.

  • Input a scanned map

You can easily import one or more scanned map into CC3+.

Do note that it will only be a flat background element, it won't be converted to actual CC3+ symbols and entities, and won't be modifiable inside CC3+, as CC3+ isn't an image editor. What most people do is to import a scanned map and keep it as a background image to trace over inside CC3+, to basically recreate the map in CC3+, using the scanned map as a guide.

You can also keep the scanned map as a background element and place things on top of it, but that might look a bit weird, depending on the map, since the style of the background probably won't match the style of the CC3+ symbols.

  • Cosmographer - symbols tiny and offset from cursor / grid

Which symbols are you trying to place? Almost all of the Traveller symbols are designed to be offset to the placement point (center of the hex) on purpose, because they are supposed to be placed according to the official guidelines. Only the main world itself will be centered, the other symbols are intended to "surround" it at fixed offset/position depending on symbol type.

As for scale, the Traveller symbols are scaled to fit a grid size of 1. If you make your hex grid larger than that, you also need to change the symbol scale accordingly.

  • Cosmographer - symbols tiny and offset from cursor / grid

I'm still curious about the weird offset, though.

The offset is because in Traveller, the base is supposed to be in the same Hex as the planet, in the 10 o'clock position. With the offset in place, you just click the planet down in the middle of the hex, then followed by the base in the same position, and thanks to the offset, it will be perfectly placed every time.

The reason you get it in a different hex is that you have the symbols scaled too large. I realize that this is how you probably want them, but in Traveller, the planets only occupy a small part of the hex, with room for symbols and names surrounding it in the same hex.

If you are not making a traveller map, I recommend using a different symbol catalog. You'll find the same symbol sin other Cosmographer catalogs without the offset, with the exception of those very simple Traveller-spesific symbols (Such as the bases)

  • Putting Chairs under Counters

That can be an advantage, but remember it is valid for the entire session, so it will affect future maps opened in the same CC3+ session. Not likely to negatively affect most maps though, but worth being aware of if something weird happens.

  • Sepia Study

You know you can open multiple windows inside CC3+, right? You can keep one window open zoomed in to your palette at all time, and another for drawing in. Unfortunately, there isn't a "always on top option" for the windows, so you need to organize the workspace so they are not overlapping.

  • Size of Sue's parchment bitmap

When you insert images, they are scaled proportionally by default.

If you are willing to accept distortion, you can hold down the control key while clicking the second corner, as this allows non-proportional scaling. To be able to do this, you must use your mouse to click the point, you can't combine that with typing the coordinates, but you can achieve precision by having a properly set snap grid with cursor snap on.

  • issue exporting

@Loopysue I think that "glitch" you're talking about is the grid. I got hung up on that myself, until I zoomed in and had a closer look.

Perfect for when my players encounter those scary monsters.
