Random street tool not following curve of street
This issue indicates that you are not able to select the street properly, and when CC3+ doesn't detect a street being clicked, it just does a straight line instead.
Make sure that the street is not on a frozen layer.
Make sure that you click on the centerline of the street when selecting it, this is easiest to do when you are not zoomed too close since the pick cursor is larger in relation to the street. -

Sea Contour - doesn't work as told (Tome)
The tutorial in the Tome expects you to draw it as the image, which do have a gap on the east side (It's not visible there, but there are more islands to the east, which is why the water is less deep there).
If you need it to go all the way around without a gap, you'll have to use a multipoly to achieve that.

Cartographers Annual Jan 2020 (using watabou maps)
Are you selecting the lines correctly? I just did a quick and dirty import following the steps in the guide, and I had no problems trimming the entities.
However, what can be confusing when doing this is:
- The Rivers/Roads when exported from the Watabou site actually consists of multiple lines on top of each other. CC3+'s trim tools work on one line at a time, and even if that line has already been trimmed, it is still a valid line so you can end up basically trimming the same line multiple times, which doesn't really give you any progress.
- Remember that thick lines are still selected by their centerline (this is where the actual line is), not by the edge as a polygon would be

October Community Challenge - City Streets - VOTING POLL in first post
I'll probably never to cities as competions. The most common thing I hear every time someone announce a challenge or competition is "sorry, I just don't have time right now, working on this other map/real life/etc...". And cities are one of the most time-consuming things out there, which certainly wouldn't help with people having time to take part. (And while you can do something like a Watabou city really quick, that wouldn't be much of a mapping challenge considering most of the work is just changing properties on the import, especially when all the entries are like that)
And for that two-parter idea to work, I would have to put really strict rules into place regarding how to build the city for part 1 for it to be suitable, I don't think that is really going to work out well.

Not sure why the tools are identical. Might be just to allow for different filters to match, i.e bot Terrain ad Vegetation.
I don't think any belongs on a different sheet. both are background polygons, and there are no other sheet where they would fit in as far as I can see. I thought about the vegetation sheet, but then they would end up overlapping things in a weird manner, so I don't think so.
