A couple of years ago I was preparing to run a classic AD&D-era Forgotten Realms campaign for an online group I'm GMing. Initially I planned on being lazy and simply using the maps from the FRIA. I noticed that a couple of the maps were missing or had some inaccuracies. This led me down a rabbit hole as I decided to remake all the maps I needed for my game. My goal was to stay as accurate as possible to the original maps and to fix any mistakes, and make them look a little nicer and in a similar style to current official D&D maps (mostly Schley), while also being usable in a vtt.

It's become an ongoing project and I'm not planning on recreating every single FR map, but I'd like to share my progress so far (I had to split up the .fcw files over multiple zip files). Perhaps someone will find these useful for their own campaigns.

Wow looks great so far, the neon style is cool!

I pretty much did what Loopysue said. I used the CDC3 Cyberpunk building style and only decreased the bevel size from 10 to 5. The districts are flat colored polygons on a sheet with Blend Mode: Multiply; opacity 60%.

I find round/organic shapes sometimes a hassle to work with and it's easier for VTTs, but you're right I should try more rounded shapes (maybe a YT-1300 freighter from Star Wars is a good candidate).

In the meantime I crunched out another deck plan, a mining ship from a scenario in the introductory box set.

During the pandemic I introduced a new group to D&D and the Forgotten Realms. While I was running my go-to introductory campaign Ruins of Adventure/Pool of Radiance I noticed a few maps were broken or missing entirely as I was converting/recreating FRIA maps for vtt. I made these maps in the Schley style to keep them consistent with the current official maps.

The Caverns below Haptooth Hill and The Tower of Dracandros from FRC2 Curse of the Azure Bonds were missing.

The scale of this one is a little problematic but I kept to the standard dungeon scale of 1 square = 10 feet.

Gothyl's Tower from Secret of Spiderhaunt is missing.

I decided not make a Perspectives map for this one, was too tricky for vtt.

Maybe someone can use these. They could easily be converted into the same style as the FRIA maps. I'll also gladly share the .fcw files for my other FRIA->Schley conversions. It's an ongoing project but I'm not planning on redoing everything, just what I need for my campaign.

Fixed some minor mistakes and spelling errors.

Make sure the text layer is unfrozen/unlocked and click the 'Numeric Edit' button on the left tool panel. The mouse cursor should have a small box next to it, then click on the text you want to edit. This should open the 'Edit Text' window. In the 'Properties' settings you can change the font, size, and alignment.

If you want to change the text color you need the 'Edit Properties' button right above the 'Numeric Edit' button.

Thanks. I wasn't aware the Thri-kreen map got corrupted by the update. Good to know next time I have install the program.

You're right about the other maps, afaik they weren't drawn for FRIA but it struck me as odd these maps weren't included whereas other maps from the same adventure modules/source books did make it into FRIA. I assume nobody got around to draw them before support for FRIA was dropped.
