Weird Behavior while installing via Wine

Hello, recently I've changed my setup to Linux. Last Pop OS (ubuntu based) as of february 26.

I've been installing the CC3 .exe I have, and so far I've installed the base one, character artist, city designer, cosmographer, dioramas and while trying to install Dungeon Designer I've encountered a problem.

I have my serial number, I get the installation request code and I put them in the validate.asp page in profantasy and copy and paste the reply code from the web. Then, instead of continuing the installation as the previous executables it goes back and asks me for the reply code again. and since the codes are identical I get the same response.

Any ideas about how to deal with that? I've made sure the is no blank spaces or weird stuff on the box, so I don't understand why everything installs fine except this (so far)

Thank you all in advance :)

OK, I'm going to put all the trouble I get installing it on my set up here. just in case someone has any ideas or anyone else in the future has some similar problem.

Fractal Terrains 3 -> I do not know if it accepts the answer from validate.asp because it tells me Invalid Serial Number although the key has been copied and pasted.

Symbol set 1 -> Same as Fractal Terrains

Symbol set 5 -> Same as Fractal Terrains

Symbol set 6 -> Same as Fractal Terrains

Tome of Ultimate Mapping -> Same as Fractal Terrains

World's Builder Companion -> Same as FT

WW2 Interactive Atlas -> Same as FT

Cartographer's Annual 13 -> Won't launch via winetricks unlike the rest.

Cartographer's Annual 17 -> Won't launch via winetricks unlike the rest.

Also @Loopysue thanks a ton for your extremely quick answer. I will do so. :)

  • For reference, when I installed CC3+, I didn't get any issues myself regarding licenses, so support may be able to help on that front (actually, it didn't even ask to go to a page to validate online for most, it was able to do it by itself except that one time where my connection cut off for a few minutes, but maybe I misremember).

Cartographer's annual 13 and 17 are zip files originally, not exes (and 17 did give me trouble when unzipping with linux mint's default unzipping tool, and with unar too, I think I used "7z x" to extract it in the end if memory serves correct). Perhaps more information on how you launched those two annuals may be needed (I launched them once extracted with wine directly, wine aimed at the wineprefix I used).

Thanks Fishou for the comment. My wine is a 64 bits prefix one, and I'm installing CC3 via Winetricks.

Lutris and WineZGui all ended up not recognising the CC3+ or giving me some kind of error.

Today I've erased the complete wineprefix and made another new one, and here comes the amazing part...

Fractal Terrains Installs no problem, symbol set 5 and 6 too. Tome of ultimate mapping and world builder's companion also work. The only difference is that the wineprefix is new (although it's the standard new one I have not changed any settings) and that after Fractal Terrains installed the installers it barely asked me to go to the validation web and almost everything installed nicely.

My only guesses are that my previous wineprefix was somehow broken (i don't know how since it was the regular setup) or the somehow if Fractal Terrains is not installed the rest of the installers send you to the validate more often.

Tbh I have no idea. Regarding the Anual 13 and 17 I was installing the .exe inside the zips before. I will try to install the annuals tomorrow. Wish me luck :)

(Now it's the WW2 one the one that sends me to validate and tells me the serial is not good xD)

    Update:

Today (24/02) I tried installing the annuals. Everything went smoothly. So far with this new wineprefix my only problem have come from the validation.asp web. So yeah, my guess would be that the wineprefix was somehow broken in some way. what I cannot guess about is the validation thing.
