My new City Style (Sumerian Kinda)

I think I found my own style using my own symbols and with advise from Wyvern, thank by the way.

It's looking good :)
Is this the finished thing, or a work in progress?
This is beautiful. I wouldn’t be surprised if ProFantasy reaches out to you about including this as a future Annual.
Happy I could help a little!
For a "proper" Sumerian settlement though, you need some canals passing through it, and maybe a bit less city planning 😉!
And a cuneiform script
I'm still working on it. There are few things I need to add, and I want to add a little more depth appearance to the water edges and make a market square. The next one I'm doing is port, probably attempt some canals.
I did some changes, attempted canals. The market place is where merchants sell of their boats.
I barrowed some symbols from the Scot's Celtic Village pack to act as a way to control the canals water flow.
I asl changed my inscriptions to look like they are "chiseled" in.
You could also have the canals running directly through the city (or connecting inside it in a variety of ways). Keeps the water flowing through, so it stays fresher, basically. From Sumerian archaeology (albeit very little's been done on this aspect), harbours in the cities could well have been placed a bit like market places - wherever there was convenient space and a couple of canals (or more) met, say. Water transport was just so vital for bulky, heavy or large cargoes there (e.g. nearly all timber had to be imported), it's arguable their canals and waterways were more important than the roads. Rulers seemed always to comment on having improved, or "built" (usually meaning something nearer "rebuilt" or "repaired" in many cases, given how many different rulers claimed to have "built" the same thing over time), with rather less emphasis on roadworks, beyond making them safe for travel (i.e. keeping the bandits away). That's probably too historically/archaeologically "real" for this setting, however 😁!
It hasn't hit "I like point."
This is looking more like Atlantis now though 😁!
Yes, the fantasy world I been using in O.S.R. one shots is inspired by myth and legends, such as Atlantis, The epic of Gilgamesh and the whole lost civilization before the ice age myth, reptilians from another world and even the creatures, the Morlocks, from the book time machine. I been talked into getting it out to others, so I'm making maps for it.
If you and Ralf are both amenable to it, I think this has the makings of a lovely addition to the annuals. Totally understand if that's not something you want to do, but it really is inspiring.
This map was done with the basic vector map and importing parchment bitmaps.
Some of the buildings are just shapes drawn and stacked in different sheets. Others are from the top left building tool.
It's all effects and tweaks to draw tools and sheet stacking.
I be more than happy to share info, especially to see what others more experienced with the program can do.
Just wanted to comment on this old thread to say how delighted I am with this style as this month’s annual. I just went through the demo maps using a technique I’ve seen Ralf do, going through the sheets one by one, and then again turning on sheets in order to see the city build up. It’s very impressive! This style will be perfect for some of the “3,000 years ago” backstories in my campaign world.
