problem with rooms/symbols not going where I place them

New to the program and doing a lot of experiementing--one thing that came up was that sometimes the program will "move" a room drawn with the drawing tool or symbol near where I wanted to put it but not in the exact spot. So I drew a hallway and then wanted to place a room next to it but the program keeps forcing the room into the hallway.

Not sure if that makes sense, but clearly I am doing something wrong.

If you are new to CC3 this might be something to do with not being aware of the snap grid. See if it is turned on. That's the button called SNAP at the bottom right of the window. When depressed it causes any point you click on the map to snap to the nearest grid point. It's there to make drawing standard dungeon maps easier, but if you don't happen to be drawing a pretty standard dungeon it can be a bit of a nuisance if you forget to turn it off.

Reminded me of the time I couldn't figure out why my trees were being so contrary about wanting to only be placed in dead straight lines like an orchard
