Community Atlas - Nesvines City
I have decided to make a vector map of Nesvines City using a map I generated from Watabou's medieval City Generator (an absolutely great little programme, BTW)
Here is the map so far, and the map with the bitmap underlying it. i have been very faithful to the generated map.
I am doing this in between finishing the Dun Fingolfin map, just to give me a break - it is actually quite fun to do, and saves me thinking about layout.

If you add a lighted bevel effect to the sheets with the buildings on them you will also get nice little rooftop shapes - like Hadrian's work.
I am basing this on Annual Fantasy cities annual
The effects I used are:
Bevel - Length 2.5, Strength 30%, fade 100%, Map Units
Drop Shadow - X=1.5, Y=1.5, Opacity=50%, Blur=2, Map Units
Glow - Outside, colour 38, strength 0, blur 3, map Units
Glow - Outside, colour 0, strength 12.5%, blur 1.5, Map Units
Thanks for the complimentary feedback on what really is just a mental doodle
As I said above, it takes no thinking and relaxes my mind before diving back into the Dun Fingolfin City.
If you could make the background transparent and use TRACE to get all the buildings drawn in a matter of seconds? If you could do that, then the whole map would only take a few minutes to do.
(Sorry Quenten)
I'm really sorry, Quenten. I just have one of those problem solving brains that's always asking if there's a quicker way of doing something!
I thought you were using it as therapy, and enjoying the task of drawing each one separately. I thought it was very Zen. LOL!
I must not have written a strong one yet, then.
Did you try the technique that Andre devised to get the rest of it done and dusted?
Very, very nice.
The only thing I might suggest is to align those stripy field fills with the longest side?
