Here is an update - on the last stretch of the inner city. King's Cross is the infamous Red Light district in Sydney. Below also is close up of a block.
Well, 1 month later, I have at last got around to completing the inner city - adding specifically elven and halfling districts. I will put up a high-res pic in 3 days time.
There are a few things to fix - the size of the market stall to the left of the bridge; the outlining of the roads, and some of their joins; the flag on the palace; some streets to be renamed, and the river edges to be fixed. Please, please, please, add to this list as you wish. Absolutely NO offence will be taken.
For some reason my machine wants to download the image rather than view it online. Is that how you wanted it to be?
KenG - as I understand it Quenten has a monster machine, but where CC3 is currently a 32-bit app it will only ever use 1 processor and 4GB RAM (I think those are the correct numbers)
He has previously explained his method of working on maps like this - each district is on a separate layer (that's layer, not sheet), and layers that aren't required at any one moment while he works are hidden to keep things reasonably fast. (Hope I got that right, Quenten)
Spot on, Sue. And it has to be downloaded to view - it is only 80Mb. And my monster machine has a motherboard and processor 8 years old, 2 SSD hard drives, and a reasonable graphics card 2 years old. QAnd Windows 7. Not a monster machine really - Sue's machine would certainly outpace mine. It certainly helps to put whole districts on rgeir layer, so you can hide them when not needed.
For anyone's interest, here is the FCW so far - again suggestions for improvement are very much welcome.
Are you going to add shadows to those buildings around the... Prcinct (what's one of those, by the way?)
Referring back to earlier - 80MB is quite often 'make or break' for me towards 21st of the month when my bb is running low. I'll have a look at it once the new bb month begins
Here is the city's version of Egypt's Valley of the Kings. Bearing in mind the increasing size of the FCW, which cliff variety is better/preferable (and why)
Considering that this is a tiny detail on a large city map, I think the simpler left version is the best. Cleaner contours generally work better as you zoom out to a more reasonable zoom level for viewing the map.
Well 1 month later, and halfway through my camping trip, here is an update on the city - the southern part of the outer city done, with closeups of the Arena and parklands areas. Some details to add to the west of this map, but I will aim to get all the buildings on the west outer city first. I will be redoing the gully, which also serves as the city's sewer outlet - after all, why should the denizens of the underdark not get some sustenance.
I have to cut down on the detail somewhat, compared to Sanctuary. Could you do Sanctuary in detail by districts/squares and have an overall map with lots less detail eg, my city of Stromphe in the Atlas (Artemisia)

I don't know if my system will be able to open it, but I sure hope it can. You have far more patience and dedication than I do.
You win the award for sticking power!
This must be nearly finished now?
LadieStorm. what is Coresaunt?
How is the performance on your machine?
Large version

FCW - 2.2MB for download

Why are you shouting at me?
I thought you were really angry about something that you thought should be so obvious you wouldn't really need to tell me what it was! LOL!
