Making Smaller Scale Maps - cutting the crap...
Hey,
I am having a problem with my map making. In short I've built a large scale map of an island and am wanting to build a zoomed in regional map. I copy and paste the content of a part of the big map into the small one. But I am only interested in the 1200x600 pixels in the middle. There is a load of "crap" around the edges. Especially when you consider the background landmass of the island has come along for the ride. This landmass is fractalized so has gazillions of nodes.
Is there any easy way to cut off the excess crap around the edges of my map?
Note that when I Save As a JPG it happily just saves the 1200x600 I want to have in my target map so the output is fine. But I'm a tidy sort and would rather remove the stuff outside my "working canvas" so to speak.
Image attached which I hope will help make sense of my query.
Thanks!
Blakey

Remy Monsen recently wrote a great blog article about making smaller regional maps from larger ones.
If you have the time to read it there's nothing really to add to it.
Large to Small – Going from Regional Maps to Local Maps
Thanks heaps!!!

Thanks to Remy, you no longer have to wade through one of my convoluted and highly illogical explanations :P
