Burne and Rufus's Tower and Castle
So to get back into mapping I am trying to recreate Burne and Rufus's Castle and Tower from the Temple of Elemental Evil Module. I am using DD3 with Bogie's most excellent add ons, CSUAC fill, and Dunjinni images. My biggest challenges are hill creations and making paths blend in more naturally. I am all ears (eyes) if anyone has any suggestions.

I think that if it was my map I would probably choose a less aligned fill for that 'brickish' path - more of a crazy paving pattern rather than one that is so full of horizontal and vertical lines. I know its a pretty fill, but it's not really helping the paths look very realistic because of its vertical 'brick wall' nature.
Then I would also add an Edge Fade Inner sheet effect to that sheet so that there wasn't such an unnatural sharp line. Similarly on the sheets with all the other various grass and dirt fills to blend them together just a bit more. And if they are all on the same sheet, I might have to make a few new sheets so that they would all have soft edges.
I think those two little tweaks would probably help enormously, because then the only things with hard edges would be the man-made features, which is the way it should be
Thank you! That was exactly the effect I was looking for. Great advice on the fill to...I really like that cobblestone look, but you were right about it jarring with the rest of the landscape.
I appreciate it!
Also, try using patches of slightly different fills to break up the large surfaces, like the grass, a bit. Use edge fade to fade them in with the grass below to to remove the edges.
