Count vs Count All

Why is there a difference between these two commands when a count is made of a map? Screen 1 shows what appears when a Count All is done on one of my maps.

CountA counts every entity in your drawing, visible or not. For example, it also includes things like symbol definitions, something that is in your file, but isn't "on the map". And since each symbol is a drawing in itself, a symbol definition can include a lot of entities just by itself (especially true for vector symbols). You can also see in the CountA dialog that it lists things like map notes, which are also entities in the file.
Count on the other hand only counts what you select, and even if you select everything, you can't select all those special entities that I mentioned above, since they are not in the map itself, and therefor not selectable either.
