First Ever CD3 Attempt FEEDBACK REQUEST

Tonight I decided I would sit down and finally play around with CD3. One thing I noticed is a lack of castles, keeps, and other fortification type buildings. Where can I find these? Also I know some of the symbols are my own creation and some of the fills are my own, but I was playing around with different looks. Tell me what you guys think!

Very nice, especially for a first try. My first several attempts at CD3 were just terrible!

You might want to experiment with a Bevel for your coastline. If done right it looks really nice, but it does take a little playing with to get it down.

I like this quite a bit. My only reservation is the fill used for the landmass -- this is from the Wielink style, I think? To me, it works best as a regional style: it just doesn't look right (to me, again) on a local map. Not sure what I'd use in its place, though, and it does have that eerie, windswept feel to it.

Was the overhead view of the drum towers your own symbol creation? I haven't seen it before; I like it.

I really like the home-made symbols.

I think there's a very small problem with the shadow effect on the piers where the shadows fall on the land. I'm wondering if they might look better if you put them on a sheet of their own underneath the land sheet, so that the shadows only fall on the water.

It might be a bit fiddly, but I think it would be worth a try

I agree with Loopysue on the docks. Also, I prefer a more gradual/blended transition between land and sea.

I have no idea if I would like the look either, but for some reason I think the background fill inside the walls should be different than outside. But, again, not sure I would even like that.

I think this map is beautiful. I love the ships and the fortifications you've put on it. I wish there were more fortification symbols but they do seem to be only a few. Most of the time we are told to make our own with tools in the program, rather than using symbols. I really love the cobblestone fill you have used for this town. Is it your own fill?
