Don't worry. People always gets a bit opinionated when it comes to communication services. People defend what they like, and talk down what they don't, some with stronger voices than others. The true test if something is interesting for the masses is really how many people join and participate, not the amount of comments about it.
Not to mention that providing a new way for the community to share and learn from each other shows how passionate you are about the software. Rock on, man.
I apologize if I seem too over the top pessimistic. I certainly didn't mean to be! A chat room where I could hold a discussion that happens would make this community feel closer together, I do admit that. I guess my biggest issue, with chat rooms in particular, is the drama that almost always comes with them. I'm afraid I've been around long enough to see many great online communities killed by drama that happens in an online chat! lol.
But there is no reason why those people that WANT to chat online can't. Having real time discussions about CC3+ and map making sounds like a great idea for those that want to participate!
Me, I think I'll stick with the forums But thanks so much for the offer
