Object Outlines and Images Files Invisible When Moving Them

I've tried to find reference to this on the forums, but I must not be using the right terms.

I'm using CC3+. Yesterday, something changed and I can no longer see object outlines or inserted image files when I am moving, rescaling, or otherwise transforming them. I haven't changed any settings, myself, and I even downloaded and installed the latest update to see if that would fix the problem. Is there a setting that got flipped to change that or is something else going on?

  • If the have an even number of edges, they disappear when moved. Odd number of sides you can still see them as you move them. They should reappear when drag comand is done.

I use the lines that the Drag command puts on the map to guide me. It does mean I have to zoom in some amount to make them go right where i want them. The amount of zoom needed varies.
  • These are single items, not stacked ones. Until yesterday, I could see the outline just fine. Additionally, when I moved an inserted PNG file, I could see the image. Now, I can't see the image, either. Something has changed, but I don't know what it is.
  • Oh. Something else strange: I can no longer use the Esc key to cancel a command. I'm not sure how the two things could be related. I only mention it because I just realized both symptoms started at the same time.

Try hitting Tab with an (invisible) item on your cursor. (Alternatively Tools -> Options -> Editing Options -> Skip entities with long redraw times.)

Not sure about the Esc thing. Is that with every command? The behaviour of Esc is command-dependant, and while it will cancel a command in most cases, there are a few cases where it don't.

That worked! I didn't realize the Tab key did that. I must have accidentally hit the key at one point when I was working. It also solved the Esc key problem. Not sure why the two would be linked, but my problems are solved. Thank you!
  • If things seem a bit off, a macro may not have completed. Type selbyd on the command line and press the enter key one time. That will end any macros that didn't complete.
