In Helmonte, dark is probably the norm (as per the Map Notes for it). What a deliciously beautiful start, Lorelei, I am so honoured you have chosen to do a map here.
Lorelei, just a reminder of my notes on the Tempe - don't know if you want to work any of it into the building Temple to Poseidon – pop 50 Exarch Gorgias is a sour humourless man who resents his ‘exile’ to this post ‘at the end of the earth’ He runs a very strict temple group – so much that there have been several who have fled, and now live in the forest with an assorted group of outlaws
The first one pleases the eye more, but the second one may be more appropriate if the rest of the furnishings are going to be more elaborate or grandiose.
I do prefer No 1. Are the structures outside the temple statues? Hard to decide at this resolution. Also, anywhere for the priests and acolytes to live or are they offsite. And I just have to say how much I admire those cliffs. Where is the sacrificial maiden tied to a stake ?
Thanks all, i thinki'll go with the first one. That was my choice, too.
Yes, the structures off the temple are water statues. - i imagine maybe, a place for worship of some of the lesser gods of waters? River God? Goddess of the Springs? Or whatever anyone who uses the map for an adventure wants them to be. It is a battle map - so I wanted a lot of actual space to be used for battles and a few places outside the temple that could be used for cover.
As far as any other buildings? No Quenten, i am doing just the temple - in a Greek open air style. Any residences for priests wouldn't be here...perhaps a bit more inland there is a priory or small village for your priests? I really only wanted to do a Temple...sorry. Perhaps i'll work on a village or priory at a later date when i've finished all my other commitments on the Atlas....and it is not my intent to work up or include a history or story with my maps. I've enough going on in my head trying to keep my OWN homebrew world straight and the history and storyline worked out, let alone a whole other world. LOL. As George Costanza says...."worlds collide!" haha. Of course, if you'd like to add some story or flavor for this map when it's complete, please do
That sounds like an interesting task - to make up a story that ties all the different maps together in a region. Unfortunately I am also a little indisposed at the moment!
Dare I ask, though - shouldn't the shading be on the opposite side - the same direction as the pillar shadows?
A pair of beautiful maps, no less
I'm not following you, Sue. I have a shadow on the dome going in the same direction as the pillars? Is it the glow around the dome, perhaps? Im not even sure if it's a glow i've got on, or if it's the symbol...i'll check.
There WAS quite an outer glow set on the roof....it was a BUILDING sheet I changed the name and purpose for...i've adjusted it down a bit and am rendering a new copy. The roof version, i wont be sending to the Atlas, though, it was just a little add-on for the forums
How's this? It IS the symbol...and unfortunately, no matter how i rotate it...it looks that way. I added a bit of a shadow for the little upper part to try to help with the illusion. Any improvement?
This entire map is made with CC3+, DD3, Bogie's and CSUAC and Dundjinni Archive fills. Didn't want to use any annuals so all content in this map is free and available through these forums for anyone who doesn't have them. The pillars, columns and rocks are all just fills with bevel effects.
Please submit the roof as an option to turn off and on (like the grids Monsen already has on the maps). Pleeeaaasseeeeeee (grovel, grovel) This map is so good, I think it must be done by Lorelei, she's a really GOOD mapper!
Thanks Quenten...i'll certainly send in the file with the roof. And....you'll get to see my surf around the rocks trick....which is really no trick at all
When you submit the map, tell me which sheets are used by the roof, and I can make a macro that toogles the roof sheets, making it easy for the user to show/hide it.
Added a few more rocks and sent it in to Remy for the Atlas @Quenten, if you'd like to write some history or backstory for the Temple, let Remy know so he waits to put the maps up for you to send it in to him. Now....either back to Lanka or on to the little village of Dwyan

Not you - surely!

My opinion only
And I just have to say how much I admire those cliffs. Where is the sacrificial maiden tied to a stake ?

(EDIT: either that or its an optical illusion making the sunlight side of the symbol look like its darker because of the shadow on the other side)
Clever you
EDIT: you are using such wonderful fills and symbols. Can we know where they come from?
