Map saving outside of borders.

First day with CC3, so I am running into some roadblocks.
Titles says it all. When I save as a jpeg or png. It saves outside the black border as well. How do I fix this? Example attached.

In your export options (click the options button in the save as dialog AFTER chosing an image file type), enable the crop to map border option (or use the rectangular section save as file types to specify exact area to export)

Could you help me out with another issue? When I am adding text to my map after a redraw it goes all blurry and looks like crap. Pic attached.

Quenten I am not seeing any effects. I am looking into the properties and even with nothing selected it still does it. Is there a menu I am missing or something?

The text as in your picture definitely has effects turned on for Text. Click the Shhets button, and turn off effects, and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then the effects in Text need changing to get what you would prefer. properties will not tell you what effects are present or not. Another button is the yellowish button on the left hand side, just above the Extract Properties button

Great. My other advice is to get the Tome of Ultimate Mapping from ProFantasy - it is utterly fantastic, and explains so many things that would help you - just work through it slowly.

Dvsmp - If you still want the effects on the rest of the map you can switch off just the text sheet effect that's causing the problem by unticking the box next to the offending effect in the sheets dialogue

While we're on the subject, I wish there were a way to get rid of or trim the symbols and bits that extend out beyond the map border/frame. It's just my OCD at work, but it bugs me! LOL!

You can't trim symbols, but you can hide them so they don't distract you. Add a couple of white polys over the top of them on the SCREEN sheet.

Some map templates the screen sheet does masking them and some it doesn't. Sorry, I don't have a list.
