As soon as I had placed the contours and shading for The Scar, I knew that I had to use the Herwin Wielink for a regional section of it.
All I have so far is the transfer and trimming of the original contours so that I have a guide to work from.

I've never used the HW style in a map before, so I'm still in the early stages of figuring out what fills I want to use. I do have the coastline and river pretty well figured, so thought I'd show that for any suggestions that you might have.
I also like how you used the different terrain fills to create an interesting background.
I actually like how you arranged the mountains. You used one specific mountain symbol quite a lot. I guess, that was on purpose?
When I use the HW Style I excessively use the beautiful foothills to create a transition between the mountains and the land around. The ones in the HW style are in my opinion better than any other foothills in other styles. I normally re-scale and make them bigger than they were originally intended to be. So this might help, if you're not happy whit the mountains yet. However, as said, I like them.
If you want some criticism, I just have one point: The gray area around the Scar stands out a bit, because it does not have the same variety in regards of the background terrain. Maybe you could increase the edge fade a bit and add something left of the scar. Maybe some hills? If the symbol hill appear to "heavy", you could maybe try a lighted bevel hillside, with a low intensity value and a transparency effect?
@HadrianVI - I'm always looking for ways to improve my maps, so always feel free to add critiques and opinions. That's why I post my progress. In the case of the scar though, I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it. I'm getting there. I'll probably fiddle with this for a few more mapping sessions until I'm satisfied with it.
I think I'm finished with this one but will leave it until tomorrow to see if there are any further suggestions before submitting it.
I made a couple of very minor changes that aren't worthy enough to post a new image for, so I'm submitting this to Monsen now.
