Detailed Mountain Ranges
I've been reading the Silver John stories by Manly Wade Wellman, taking place in the Appalachian Mountains, inspired after discovering Goodman Games Shudder Mountains from their Chained Coffin boxed set.
One of the things I really enjoy about Wellman's stories is how the region really comes to life and it got me wondering how I'd go about mapping out a mountainous region where the mountains, valleys, streams flowing down them are all realized. Where the fact that the north face of a mountain might be nearly a cliff while the south one is a gradual climb, covered by trees for much of it.
It would seem to me that any such map would need to be realized at a fairly large scale and thereby show a fairly limited region. A contour map would seem an obvious way to realize such a location, but I'm curious if others have realized such a map and if there might be some good inspirations out there using CC3/CC3+.
