Introducing: Nga-Whenuatoto, The Bloodlands!
Introducing: Nga-Whenuatoto, The Bloodlands!

I updated the textures, glows, and contours for the map.
I added the names for the three smaller islands:
1. Port Digby (Pirate Haven)
2. Puia Hanahana (Divine Volcano)
3. Mote Ora (Living Death)
I am using the Maori language as a basis for the naming process.
The different colorization of the lands that are not part of my area was an idea that I got from Monsen.
Thanks Monsen! :-)
I'm loving the red with black text. The font is very easy to read too.
I added five area names for Nga-Whenuatoto:
1. Paihana (Poison)
2. Kahanihorei (Strong Fang)
3. Tarakona (Dragon)
4. Taniwha (Monsters)
5. Tangata (Man)
I did the land for all of them except Tangata, Port Digby, Puia Hanahana, and Mate Ora.
I also added a scale.
The full length of the scale is 400 miles.
Besides finishing off the above four lands; I still need to create 8 custom icons, 2 custom monsters, and a custom compass.
I will use the tools that come with ProFantasy CC3+ to create these so people will not see red X's when they open up the FCW.
The Icons will be:
1. Paihana (Spider)
2. Kahanihorei (Gorilla)
3. Tarakona (Lizard Man)
4. Taniwha (Dinosaur)
5. Tangata (Tribal Warrior)
6. Port Digby (Skull)
7. Puia Hanahana (Volcano)
8. Mate Ore (Bat)
* All will be done in Tribal Tattoo style.
For the 2 Sea Monsters, they will be:
1. Giant Octopus
2. Sea Serpent'
* Both will be done in Tribal Tattoo style.
The Compass will be a sea turtle design and again, it will be in a Tribal Tattoo style to keep with the theme of the map.
Thanks!
What is the Tribal Tattoo style? Will it be easily available to other users?
Yes, that is were I pulled the concept from. I am familiar with Polynesian culture somewhat. I lived in Hawaii for about three years and read up a lot on ancient Hawaii and absolutely loved the Bishop Museum and the Polynesian Cultural Center there. For this project, I focused on researching the Maori. That is also what influenced me to go with tribal tattoo designs for all the icons, sea monsters, and the compass. All the symbols will be made using the drawing tools that comes with CC3+. As such, everyone will be able to see them no problem. I will also save the individual symbols with a transparent background. When I am done, I will send the FCW, the full size PNG, and the symbols to Monsen so anyone can access them and download as they please.
I finished off the lands of:
1. Tangata
2. Port Digby
3. Puia Hanahana
4. Mate Ora
I have also dropped some symbols on the map in four separate areas to create "Idea Generators" for other mappers. See if you can find all four. :-)
The symbols that I used are cliff symbols and the one you are specifically referring to is the one with the waterfall built-in. :-)
I am not done yet though. I am still working on some icons, sea monsters, and a compass. In addition, nobody is working on the lands to my west and as such I do not have a name for the "Other Lands'. If nobody is working on that one by the time I am done with this one, I may ask for that one as well. I am thinking a mix of middle east and India for that continent. What do you think?
Your wish is my command. :-)
This was made using only the CC3+ drawing tools and using the bitmap textures from the three sets that we are allowed to use for the continents.
As such, everyone will be able to view these.
When I am done, I will also send Monsen the Sea Dragon image with a transparent background to share with everyone.
I hope you like it.
:-)
Here is the inspiration for this piece: http://www.blackdrago.com/fame/araiteru.htm
Maybe on a sepia tone version of the map.
pvernon, I have seen some maps with a watermark design. From the ones that I have seen, I think they look best in a parchment style map.
A player map on a parchment scroll perhaps.
I will be doing continent H next. It is just westward and you can see part of its lands inside the K map. This land will be Middle Eastern themed on its western side and Hindu theme on its eastern side. It should complement the Greek themed continent to its north and this Polynesian themed map. It is named Kumarikandum.
I have added the 2nd and final sea monster for this map. It is Mango Wheke, the Great Octopus! It is inspired by http://eng.mataurangamaori.tki.org.nz/Support-materials/Te-Reo-Maori/Maori-Myths-Legends-and-Contemporary-Stories/Kupe-and-the-Giant-Wheke
I hope everyone likes it! :-)
That scale bar of yours seems to be almost unreadable small though, generally, you'll want to be able to read it without zooming in.
For the Profantasy forum, it is only at 650 pixels wide to meet the size requirements.
I can make the scale bigger though.
It looked good on your website; great work on that by the way. :-)
