Cut hole in the floor...

Hi Team,

Let's say I have a multi-level building. Is it possible to cut a hole in the floor?

I want to add a replica of the bottom floor underneath the current floor hole...

I bet it's possible... and likely relatively easy... for you guys

Hi Daplunk

You can use a Colour Key sheet effect and draw the hole as a solid polygon of the same colour as the colour key on the same sheet as the floor... or you could create a multipoly by drawing the hole and mutlipolying it with the floor using the multipoly tool. The first is a bit inconvenient if you work without the effects turned on, but its easier to edit than a multipoly.

To add the collapsed floor below the one with the hole in it you would need to add another sheet below the existing floor and copy the existing floor (without the hole in it) to the new sheet.

PS. If you make a multipoly and change your mind about the exact size and shape of the hole you can edit it by exploding the multipoly, which will return it to the state of being in 2 separate and fully editable polygons.

I did it... bit of a hack

I just drew a new floor. Bu instead of making it a square i simply stopped mi line, drew into the centre, drew the shape of the hole, got back to the start of the hole, followed the line back to the wall and then finished of the square.

Worked a treat.

I tried your Colour Key method... but i just made an invisible circle? Absolutely going to guess I did it wrong.

Add the Colour Key to the sheet that the floor is on, then draw your circle on top of the floor but on exactly the same sheet as the floor and the Colour Key effect

You get away with it in this case, but remember the colour key effect for when you have a more complicated situation where it might not be as easy to just cut in and out again from the edge
