Mappy new year!
Hello fellow mappers!
Quite some time has gone by since I last posted on this forum.
Hardship (health troubles, fire at home, new reform at work blah blah) but also more joyful but time consuming projects: learning to teach math in German (now that I can passably do it in English) and a fun huge update requiring dozens of maps, new symbols and new fill styles, have prevented an earlier comeback.
Though I've been lurking, I coudn't comment on just a few posts without being unfair to the hundreds of new fantastic maps that have appeared here, so let me just say "kudos!" to all of you. I also just have a few days left to wish a happy, mappy new year to every mapper or fantasy/Sci-fi lover!
Since I couldn't really come back empty handed, I have two articles for you.
The first one: Shaded Polygons: Shaded Roofs, Rotated FIll Styles and Perspective has been long in standby and completing it delayed me even more. It explains all you can do with shaded polygons for a city or dungeon map.
The second: An overview of the Blend Mode, Overlay Effect details how I used - extensively - this effect for the project mentionned above.
I hope you will enjoy them.
Not sure if I'll be able to be more active but I can only promise I'll try...

Good to see you back. I hope life will let you stay a bit more active here in the future, we missed having you around.
As for teaching, I'll easily believe that was time consuming. I am sticking to teaching in Norwegian and English myself, my German is utterly horrible. I can read a bit of it, but speaking it is way to hard for me.
I'll read your tutorials later, but I suspect they are good as always.
A living legend returns! I've heard so much about you - people keep referring to your work to explain things to me, and I've always wondered where you went.
Great to see you back... even though I joined up after your last previous post
Welcome back. I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with so much trouble; I hope you've come through okay. May the new year be much better for you. It's very generous of you to return after all that bearing gifts! I can't wait to go through them.
I echo Monsen's sentiment. Your presence on the forum has been missed. I hope things settle down enough to let you venture here more frequently. For now, it's just nice to hear from you.
Cheers,
~Dogtag
Thanks Dogtag
I can't wait to see what goodies you're sharing with us.
